Nexus Therapy is approved by the Ontario Autism Program for providing aba therapy services in your home or child's public school in Scarborough, Ontario. We offer individualized treatment programs to meet the needs of each child and assist in aba training for parents and educators to encourage ongoing therapeutic support and maximize treatment efficacy.

Scarborough, Ontario Aba Therapy Home Service​
Providing aba therapy to children with autism within their natural environment at home or school helps to facilitate language and academic learning within context while also decreasing undesirable behaviors because therapy is being delivered where the behaviour will normally take place. Receiving aba therapy at home or school also provides better, and more opportunities for parent and teacher training, thereby allowing them to reinforce the ABA interventions and increase the chances that the child will maintain the desired behavior and the acquisition of new skills.

Nexus Aba Therapy offers inter-disciplinary speech therapy consultation as a part of your aba treatment program. Our goal for each child is to achieved the greatest possible level of independence, comprehension and communication success during daily activities at home, daycare and school. Our aba team will collaborate with your speech-language pathologist to help your child speak more clearly amd maximize their communication potential.

ABA Therapy Academic Programs
Many children on the autism spectrum who experience difficulties with attending and working independently at school are able to learn more readily with one to one aba instruction offered at school or in a home schooling program. Nexus Aba Therapy offers individualized home schooling programs to help your child advance in language, reading and math and to better meet the expectations of the school curriculum.

Aba Therapy Social Skills Programs
Difficulties with interactive play and social skills are one of the hallmark signs of autism spectrum disorder. Enrollment into daycare or school where there are opportunities to engage in play with peers often does not help in the development of social skills very much. For many children on the autism spectrum play skills, social interaction, social language and conversation skills must be taught and practiced within a structured and therapeutic setting before they can be expected to generalize these skills with other people at home and in the community.

Integrated Aba & Occupational Therapy

Many children diagnosed with autism face challenges with sensory processing, fine motor skills, hand writing and performing activities of daily living such as dressing, eating and playing. Nexus Aba Therapy offers occupational therapy collaboration to promote, maintain, and develop the skills needed by children to be functional within the home, school setting and beyond. This includes:

self-care (e.g. dressing, eating a meal, managing toileting needs and managing personal hygiene)

productivity (e.g. emotional regulation, levels of alertness, participation, hand writing and organisational skills)

leisure (e.g. socialising with friends, belonging to a group, participating in hobbies/play and motor skills for physical education).​
We also offer assessment and treatment to address child’s sensory processing differences and remove barriers to learning and help the students become calmer and more focused.
Life Skills & Activities of Daily Living
​Children with asd typically take more time to develop life skills including personal grooming, dressing, brushing teeth and independance in the bathroom and sometimes require professional assistance in learning how to use the toilet appropriately. Learning these skills does not necessarily become easier with age. Older children may need more time to learn new skills due to their past history of failures. Additionally, lack of toileting skill can lead to problems related to school entry.
Toileting is a skill that is learned more easily with the child's natural home environment. Nexus Aba Therapy offers treatment that is focused on teaching life skills within the home before supporting with generalization to other locations. Our programs incorporate OT recommendations, parent and caregiver training and direct intervention to help children become more independent in addressing their personal needs, using the bathroom, washing, bathing and dressing.
